BETH
ASHFIELD

I first began working as an BSL/English interpreter in 2018 and I am now a fully qualified, Registered Sign Language Interpreter (RSLI). I undertook my interpreter training as part of the MA Interpreting course at the University of Wolverhampton.

At 14 years old, I became fascinated with BSL whilst on a volunteering holiday and soon after began learning at night classes - but I never expected it to become my career! I graduated from the University of Exeter in 2016 with a BSc (Hons) degree in Medical Sciences and then went on to work at the Exeter Royal Academy for Deaf Education, which quickly reignited my passion for BSL and my desire to work with the deaf community.

I am registered with NRCPD (The National Registers of Communication Professionals working with Deaf and Deafblind People) and my registration number is 1022369. I hold an enhanced DBS certificate and am a full member of ASLI (Association of Sign Language Interpreters), which provides me with Professional Indemnity and Public Liability Insurance. I am always striving to improve my skills and regularly undertake CPD (Continuous Professional Development) to maintain good professional practice.

I am happy to travel both near and far for bookings. I regularly work across Devon, but often work in London and many other locations in between. I am available weekdays, evenings and weekends.

When not interpreting, I am often found paddleboarding, near the beach or exploring the southwest!
